“Ripping
Off the Kimono” – Rip-off; adjective: to take credit for
something that is not your own, or, verb: to tear away, as one would
strip away a veil that concealed a hidden truth. In this introductory rope
bondage class, I will examine why the current trend in rope bondage is
considered Japanese – both why it is and why it isn’t. I’ll also do my best to
demystify the whole aura surrounding this aspect of bondage, and to piss off a
few Japanophile fan-boys in the process, if I’m lucky. I will introduce six
principles of rope bondage that I have also borrowed from others, and describe
